Dallas, TX – INVEX, the metal industry enterprise software announces a new INVEX Nesting Solution that offers real-time integration between the INVEX Quote and Sales Order application and a length nesting optimization tool. This solution allows the Sales team to receive a quote to saw cut multiple steel or metal items, nest the INVEX Quote or Order, and subsequently create the Quote or Order with the metal pricing computed. The resulting nest is then used to create the Production Job within INVEX to facilitate the saw-cut process in the warehouse.
Metal service centers store, process, and distribute finished and semi-finished metal products for a variety of industries. General line Metal Service Centers commonly receive large quotes from their customers to saw cut multiple cut items, such as beams or angles. Quotes and Sales Orders for this segment of the metal industry, can commonly have twenty to hundreds of items, which are often associated with a large project such as a building or bridge.
Using the INVEX Nesting Solution, the salesperson can now nest these cut items directly from the Quote using a built-in INVEX length optimization tool. The resulting nest will help determine the beam or angle drop lengths to use when the order is saw cut. In addition INVEX will calculate the metal pricing for the Quote based on the gross weight of the lengths to be used instead of the weight of the cut pieces. This solution dramatically increases the speed and efficiency of the quoting process for the salesperson.
Process Flow
The process starts once the order/quote is uploaded or entered in INVEX and sent to the INVEX Nesting Solution to perform the length optimization process. The salesperson can then review the resulting nest and finalize the Quote with the click of a button. All pricing for the Quote is automatically performed using the INVEX Price Book or an external price book. Later that same nest is used to create the Production Job for the warehouse, to process the job.
INVEX Nesting Solution
The INVEX Nesting Solution provides a one-stop shop to view the entire quote and any resulting yield from the nest. This application determines the optimal cut plan to reduce scrap, and enables sales to quote a price based on the total stock required to saw cut the ordered lengths. Sales can view the cut plan, and make changes as required, prior to finalizing selling the price.
Features
- Ability to upload via Excel or enter the cut items directly in INVEX.
- Entire Quote or Order can be nested in one click.
- Sales can select the inventory to use (stock lengths, drops, incoming material, etc.)
- Source the inventory from one or multiple warehouses.
- Nesting Solution provides a full overview of the yield for each cross-section so that the gross weight of the full lengths can be used to price the quote or order.
- Handles both cut-length and full stock-length sales cases (cut-to vs cut-from)
